ELECTRIC VEHICLES

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES?

There are numerous business benefits to owning and running an electric vehicle:

FINANCIAL

The running costs of driving a Nissan e-NV200 are significantly lower than our electric van's petrol or diesel rivals – it costs from 2,79€ for up to 170km of driving (by charging at night on British Gas Economy 7 tariff + 1 hour at the standard rate using a home charging unit).
Electric vehicle drivers are also exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), Company Car Tax, the London Congestion Charge, and also benefit from discounted or even free parking in some boroughs or council areas.

CONVENIENCE

Electric vehicles such as the Nissan e-NV200 can be charged at home overnight using a Nissan-approved home charging unit, thereby removing the need to visit a filling station.
Electric vehicles are easier to maintain. Your e-NV200 will spend less time in the garage and more time on the road.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Electric vehicles have no tailpipe emissions, making them the most environmentally-friendly vehicles on the road.

REFINED DRIVE

The battery pack in the Nissan e-NV200 delivers instant torque, for better performance in the city. It also has superior handling to other vans on the road, on account of its low centre of gravity.

WHAT ARE LOW-EMISSION VEHICLES?

Low-emission vehicles, such as electric vehicles (EVs), are vehicles which produce reduced or zero emissions of CO₂ and other gases. Electric vehicles such as the Nissan e-NV200 produce 0g/km of CO₂ and emit no particles, because they are powered solely by a battery.

At Nissan, we believe in the potential for low-emission vehicles. We are working with local and national governments and other sectors to help develop the necessary infrastructure to make low-emission mobility a reality.

ARE ELECTRIC VEHICLES THE SAME AS HYBRID VEHICLES?

Electric vehicles are often confused with hybrid vehicles, which run on a combination of an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.

By contrast, electric vehicles such as the Nissan e-NV200 are solely powered by an electric motor – and therefore require no fuel and have zero emissions whilst driving.

WHAT ARE ELECTRIC VEHICLES LIKE TO DRIVE?

Driving an electric vehicle such as the Nissan e-NV200 is most similar to driving an automatic vehicle – but one with rapid acceleration and no engine noise.

HOW DOES AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE COMPARE WITH A CONVENTIONAL VEHICLE?

Electric and conventional vehicles are largely similar. Aside from the obvious difference in propulsion, the major differences are the fuelling and maintenance requirements of an electric vehicle.

Rather than filling up at a petrol station, it is expected that most electric vehicles will be charged overnight at home. Also, electric vehicles have far fewer moving parts compared to a car with an internal-combustion engine, which reduces the likelihood of unscheduled maintenance.

IF THE ENGINE DOESN'T GET HOT, HOW DO I HEAT THE CAB?

The Nissan e-NV200 uses an enclosed electric heater to keep you warm, while a curtain separates the cabin from the loadspace.

WHAT IS THE LOAD CAPACITY ?

The Nissan e-NV200 has a capacity of 4.2m³… That's enough room to easily swallow two loaded Euro pallets, and is the best load capacity of any van in its class.

WHERE IS THE BATTERY IN THE NISSAN e-NV200?

The battery pack in the e-NV200 is placed in the floor, so it doesn't eat into the loadspace or cabin. It also lowers the centre of gravity – which you’ll notice in the corners.

WHAT IS THE BATTERY TECHNOLOGY?

The Nissan e-NV200 uses a lithium-ion battery pack.

HOW DO YOU CHARGE AN EV?

You can charge your Nissan e-NV200 at home or at any publicly-accessible charging station. You simply plug your vehicle into the charge point using the cable provided with the vehicle, or the tethered cable attached to the home charging unit.The recommended method of charging at home is to install a Nissan-approved home charging unit (HCU). Whilst on the road, there is a growing number of publicly-accessible charge points across the UK.
Your Nissan EV dealer will be able to assist you in arranging a home inspection and the installation of your HCU by British Gas.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I RUN OUT OF POWER WHEN I'M OUT DRIVING?

Don't worry. Nissan’s roadside assistance service is there for you as part of your warranty coverage. However, the advanced CARWINGS connected services system available on the Tekna model of the e-NV200 will constantly update you to show battery status, as well as the location of charging points along your route to help avoid this happening.

IS THERE A SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR THE BATTERY?

At Nissan, we are so confident in our revolutionary lithium–ion battery that we’re retrospectively expanding warranties for all European owners. All Nissan e-NV200 drivers will be covered if the battery range drops below nine out of the 12 bars displayed on the dashboard in less than five years or 96560km.

Our batteries are also covered in the standard 5 year/96560km warranty against mechanical defect that comes with all Nissan vehicles. That means guaranteed performance for years to come.

DOES THE NISSAN e-NV200 USE REGENERATIVE BRAKING TO HELP RECHARGE THE BATTERY?

Yes, when driving. Every time you coast or apply the brakes, the electric motor acts as a generator so the engine automatically recovers some of this wasted energy and returns it to the battery.

AUTONOMY & RANGE

WHAT IS THE RANGE OF THE e-NV200?

The maximum range of the Nissan e-NV200 is 170km – but factors including how and where the van is being driven or whether the air conditioning is in use will affect the range. Selecting a more economical driving mode, such as B Mode or ECO Mode – and controlling the air conditioning remotely – will help you get the most out of of your battery.

HOW CAN I MAXIMISE MY DRIVING RANGE IN A NISSAN e-NV200?

The Nissan e-NV200 comes with a host of options to help you maximise your driving range.

ECO MODE:
ECO Mode minimises energy consumption by softening acceleration and reducing power consumption from the air conditioning unit.

B MODE:
Increases regenerative braking to capture more energy and transform it into battery charge. B Mode can be activated any time, whether or not you’re driving in ECO Mode.

ECO-ROUTING:
The e-NV200's advanced route planner lets you plan the most energy-efficient route. Just set your parameters and the planner does the work. It’s just one of the many tools to help you get the most out of your battery’s charge.

REMOTE-CONTROL AIR CONDITIONING:
Set the air conditioning to start while your e-NV200 is still charging. That way, less battery power is lost when you're on the move and the cabin of your van is at a pleasant temperature when you get behind the wheel.

CHECK HOW FAR CAN YOU GO

DOES USING THINGS LIKE THE HEATER REDUCE THE RANGE OF THE VEHICLE?

Running the heater or A/C will have an impact on how far you can drive. But what's really clever is that you can pre-heat or pre-cool your e-NV200 while it is charging, before you drive off. If you are plugged into your home charging unit or a public charging point, this means the power will come directly from the mains rather than from the battery and will therefore not reduce your range.

COST & INCENTIVES

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RUN AN ELECTRIC VAN LIKE THE e-NV200?

The Nissan e-NV200 cuts daily running costs in two ways:

With the cost of charging a Nissan e-NV200 starting at about 2p/km, it costs four times less to run than a normal van.
Nissan's 100% electric e-NV200 van has far fewer moving parts than traditional commercial vehicles. Without pistons, a crankshaft or any of the countless other moving parts you’ll find in equivalent petrol or diesel vehicles, there are fewer things to go wrong – so your van will spend less time in the garage and more time on the road.

Not only that, but drivers of electric vehicles are also exempt from vehicle excise duty (VED), company car tax and the London Congestion Charge, while discounted or even free parking for electric vehicles is available in some areas.

Motorists buying an electric van such as the e-NV200 can receive a grant of 20% towards the cost of the van, up to a maximum of 10842€.

HOW IS THE INCENTIVE DEDUCTED FROM THE PRICE?

Consumers will pay for the cost of the van, minus the incentive – similar to the way in which the scrappage scheme worked. Dealerships will deduct the 20% (up to 10842€) at the point of sale, which Nissan will reclaim from the government.
