Enlarged from the previous 350Z’s 3.5 litres engine, the 3.7 litres V6 in the 370Z coupé develops 328PS. Normally aspirated rather than turbocharged, it offers beefy low-range and mid-range acceleration, with a 0-60mph time of well under 6 seconds. That’s pure exhilaration – in any language.

THE EVOLUTION OF SPEED
45 years of evolution through six generations has led to this, the most powerful Nissan ‘Z’ engine ever. Delivering 344PS with 371Nm of torque, it serves up blistering acceleration and a top speed – where permitted – that we’ve had to limit to 155mph.


CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE VALVE TIMING
The 370Z features the Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) with Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL). This advanced technology gives variable valve timing and lift, meaning quicker responses and a broader torque curve, while optimising fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.

LESS IS MORE
High performance isn’t just about having more power. It’s also about having less weight. That’s why Nissan engineers have given the 370Z a bonnet, hatch and doors panelled in ultra-strong lightweight aluminium. The front subframe and the engine cradle are also in aluminium, as are many suspension components. High-tech materials include a carbonfibre driveshaft that is incredibly strong and also helps the engine rev more quickly, and a weight-saving carbonfibre radiator housing. We even managed to shave 3,5lb from the audio system.

SIX-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION
For throwback thrills and endless smiles, this fast-acting manual is just the ticket – and you have the added benefit of Synchro Rev Control. This synchronises revs for perfect lightning-quick downshifts. Whether on your favourite twisty road or your daily commute, you’ll feel like a pro racing driver.

SYNCHRO REV CONTROL
A world first in a production car, Synchro Rev Control on the six-speed manual transmission monitors clutch and gearlever inputs and vehicle speed. As you shift to a lower gear, the system blips the throttle and adjusts engine rpm for a smooth and ultra-quick downshift.

SEVEN-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The 370Z’s optional seven-speed automatic transmission gives you a wide spread of gearing and improved fuel efficiency. With a choice of selectable modes, you can tailor your driving experience as never before – and Downshift Rev Matching delivers rapid downshifts with a blip of the throttle, when you’re in manual mode.

DRIVER-SELECTABLE MODES
Put the auto in ‘D’ for effortless cruising, then operate the steering-column paddle shifters whenever quick changes are needed. Want more involvement? Manual mode gives you manual-style control through the gearlever or the paddle shifters.

With the engine’s centre of mass behind the front axle and the front wheels moved closer to the corners, the Nissan 370Z is built for balance and handling.

55/45 WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION
Some consider a 50-50 balance front-to-rear to be the perfect weight distribution for handling. But Nissan engineers realised that a 55-45 ratio is in fact ideal. When the driver accelerates out of a corner, the weight distribution shifts rearward and becomes an approximate 50-50 balance. This translates into enhanced tyre contact for better acceleration, quicker turns and a handling feel that’s uniquely Nissan Z.

VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL
A great sports car shouldn’t just exhilarate, it should also inspire confidence. Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) on the Nissan 370Z continuously monitors the speed of each wheel, steering angle, yaw, lateral g-forces and even braking pressure. It compares the data to the vehicle path and if it senses the onset of understeer or oversteer it brakes individual wheels and reduces engine power, to help keep you on course.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE TYRES
The standard 18" Yokohama ADVAN Sport high-performance tyres keep you glued to the road, while the optional 19" Bridgestone Potenza rubber – standard on the NISMO – delivers new levels of roadholding and grip.

19" FORGED ALLOY WHEELS
The optional forged-alloy wheels are stronger and lighter than typical cast wheels. Being lighter, they reduce unsprung weight – and that means better handling.

355 MM FRONT BRAKE DISCS
Balance doesn’t just apply to cornering. Bringing the powerful Nissan 370Z coupé to a halt are its largest brakes ever: 355 mm ventilated front discs, with the gripping power of four-pot calipers.

DOUBLE-WISHBONE FRONT SUSPENSION
A lightweight double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link independent rear keep the wheels vertical for maximum contact with the road – and maximum thrills through the corners.
